Fonda began tweeting around 5 pm Eastern and continued for almost three hours:

“Progressive Arizona Rep Gabrielle Giffords is shot. In her ads, Sarah Palin had her targeted in a gun site. Inciting to violence.”

“Glen Beck guilty too. Shame. It must stop!”

“Violence against 1 woman is violence against every woman. So let all women commit 2 stopping this radical violence. NOW”

“It isn’t enough that Palin just removed the map of Giffords district with gun crosshairs off her website. She holds responsibility”

“@SarahPalinUSA holds responsibility. As does the violence-provoking rhetoric of the Tea Party”

“Here’s the danger: once a society starts killing its politicians and judges, only the corrupt and brutal can or are willing to rule.”

Update: In an article just posted to her blog, Fonda blamed the shooting on “right wing fanatics who have been repeatedly harassing and threatening Giffords, egged on by Sarah Palin and Glen Beck and Tea Party members.”

Fonda’s accusations ignore several facts that can be quickly discerned from his Youtube channel—Loughner was a very disturbed individual who listed Mein Kampf and The Communist Manifesto as some of his favorite books. That’s hardly the reading list of a Tea Party conservative.

Fonda’s reference to “gun crosshairs” is to an image on Palin’s PAC site in which 20 Democrats from districts that voted for McCain/Palin in 2008 are identified. The 20 voted for Obamacare and were considered vulnerable to defeat. Numerous tweeters have, like Fonda, mischaracterized the graphic; some have even described it (obviously, having not actually seen it) as crosshairs across Giffords’ face.

The guessing game continues as to why Facebook’s automated systems deleted a controversial post from Sarah Palin.

The National Organization of Women also blasted Letterman for inappropriate "jokes" on its Web site Thursday.

"Comedians in search of a laugh should really know better than to snicker about men having sex with teenage girls (or young women) less than half their age," NOW said.

“Contrary to her promises, she has taken no initiatives to restrict abortion rights or to introduce the teaching of creationism in schools.”

Now, this liberal writer doesn’t want to restrict abortion rights or see creationism taught, and for Palin’s “lack of initiative” this reporter would normally praise her.

But, no; instead the writer criticizes Palin for her failure to keep a promise. So this writer would prefer that Palin remain true to her fundamentalist Christian beliefs? I doubt it.

Liberals are confused because they are the sons and daughters of the “father of confusion.”

Palin is a true threat; not in herself but in what she represents.
