The Truth: What Obama and McCain won’t tell you about your money
Some straight talk, not from the “Straight Talk Express” or the “Messiah for Change,” but from an American entrepreneur:
Not all homeowners deserve to stay in their houses.
Renting is a perfectly reasonable alternative, but the idea of Americans “losing their houses” is politically untenable. Why? Because America perpetuates a mistaken culture of homeownership. Owning your own home is the kind of BS sacred cow that got us into this mess: Our parents tell us to buy a house. Our friends are impressed if we own a house in our twenties. The government literally encourages us to own a house by offering tax deductions. Homeownership is the American Dream!

Why Obama Can’t Go to Washington
It is being reported this morning that, while John McCain has returned to Washington to lend his experience and influence to the bailout negotiations, Obama has remained on the campaign trail.
In truth, Obama can do nothing else. On the stump, Obama is a rock star with a huge popular following. In Washington, however, he is little more than a still-wet-behind-the-ears freshman legislator with little influence among his colleagues. Obama would look small and insignificant standing next to McCain in a city where the former P.O.W. is highly revered.
Obama may be popular among naive, gullible voters but, in D.C. he’s a newbie who hasn’t earned his stripes. If elected President, I suspect that he will quickly be relegated to “lame duck” status, even by his own party.

Presidential debate: The claims vs. the facts
The AP did a little fact-checking after last night’s debate. Both candidates played a little fast and loose with the facts, although none could be called major misrepresentations.
Some facts got lost when Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain confronted each other over the financial crisis, Iraq, the oil industry and more in the first presidential debate of the 2008 general election.
Here are examples:

Sarah Palin strikes back at critics
A Brit reporter’s take on last night’s speech by Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin. It’s a great read! An excerpt:
From the moment she walked on stage in this cavernous bear pit, bandbox smart in cream jacket, trim black skirt and black heels, she proved that John McCain knew exactly what he was doing when he picked her as running mate.
Hair piled into a slight beehive – more Sarah White House than Amy Winehouse – she blinked and smiled behind her geeky spectacles as the vast crowd went ballistic.
She’s a moose-hunting mum of five with a sledge-load of problems behind her own front door that workaday Americans can relate to.

The Long Pass
By Nancy Matthis at ADMC
Former NFL quarterback and current US Congressman Heath Shuler (D-NC) has thrown a long pass over the heads of Nancy Pelosi and her cohorts. Now we urgently need a firestorm of letters, phone calls, faxes, and emails to Congress to put a receiver in the end zone.
On November 6, 2007 Rep. Shuler introduced the Secure America through Verification and Enforcement (SAVE) Act in Congress as H.R.4088. Shuler explained:
America is a nation of immigrants, but we are also a nation of laws. We should not reward those who come to our country illegally….
The SAVE Act offers a 3-part plan to drastically reduce illegal immigration: a strict emphasis on border security, the verification of an employee’s legal status, and increased enforcement of existing laws. It provides a sensible solution to the illegal immigration crisis that is affecting every part of our Nation….
