Local “Say ‘Yes’ To America” rally planned
The ”Say ‘Yes’ to America” Rally for Gwinnett County, GA has been scheduled for Friday evening, May 5, at 6 pm. The location is the parking lot adjacent to the “On the Border” restaurant, 2275 Pleasant Hill Road in Duluth.
The rally was inspired by the American public’s response to the article “No ‘Mexican’ On Cinco de Mayo” and the call by Gwinnett County residents for a show of solidarity and patriotism on May 5, “Cinco de Mayo.”
The rally will convene under the American flag in the parking lot adjacent to the restaurant. State Representative Melvin Everson (R-Snellville), who was instrumental in the passage of Georgia’s “Security and Immigration Compliance Act” (SB-529), is confirmed to speak. Rep. Everson made history last year when he became the first black Republican since Reconstruction to be elected to the State Legislature in a contested race.
“The boycott is not intended to target any particular business,” said Griggs, “but it is appropriate that the rally will occur next to an ‘On the Border’ restaurant.”
According to Griggs, the restaurant’s parent company, Texas-based Brinker International, is a supporter of the National Council of La Raza. The NCLR opposes legislation to close the southern border; opposes requiring proof of residency for a driver’s license; supports granting full citizenship to all Hispanics currently in the country illegally; opposes the prosecution of illegals for using forged documents including Social Security cards; and favors extending government grants, loans and in-state tuition rates to illegals currently in our high schools.
Gwinnett residents planning to attend are asked to email rally@bobgriggs.com to assist in planning for the event. Rally organizers have received over one hundred emails from local residents planning to attend.

But, perhaps we will also remember what Cinco de Mayo means for some young people in Southern California. From the front page of The Washington Post in an article entitled “Jail Riots Illustrate Racial Divide in California:” “In California, black students each year skip school on May 5th, Cinco de Mayo, as Mexican gangs have warned in graffiti that they will shoot any black students who attend school that day” (February 20, 2006).
Your are focusing on the wrong group of people. The owners of these restaurants have not done anything wrong. They are legal US citizens, and a lot of them are not even Hispanic. Any political person involved in this will absolutely NOT get my vote in the next election!

(Bob says, “Ms. Buck’s comment and emails caught my attention, probably because she called me a ‘moron’ several times. Here is part of my reply to Ms. Buck:”)
Go Get’em Bob YOU ARE DOING A GREAT JOB..The Majority of Americans are behind men with your same ideas, but they can’t come out & Rally or support these protest, because they work to support their family & the Illegal Criminals that get all the FREEBIES. If they got Free Health care, Free Food & all the other government programs they too could protest!!!We are behind you 100% Keep up the good work. Kind of reminds me of John the Baptist in the Bible “One crying in the wilderness” Some said he was crazy & out of touch, but he had a message that needed to be heard & so do You & others like you…God Bless You
You are in my prayers…
In addition to protesting, I think we all need to be actively supporting legislation aimed at allieviating the very massive “illegal immigration” onslaught of which we complain! For example, Rep. Nathan Deal of Ga. has a bill before Congress which would prohibit babies born in the U.S. to illegal aliens (as in your poll) from becoming U.S. citizens. Georgia has already “struck a great blow” for reform with the passage of your landmark SB-529. Now, while the sentiment of the U.S. public is “on this side”, let’s “go national” in strong support of other legislation– such as that proposed by Rep. Deal, and other such “anti-illegal immigration legislation” already introduced into our Congress–and work together actively to “take our country back” the legal way!
MR. BOB, ARE YOU A NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN? THOSE ARE THE ONES THAT REALLY ARE AMERICAN, THE REST ARE INMIGRANT AND I WANT TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR ANCESTORS .
(Bob says, “Amparo, you are responsible for the words that come out of your mouth (or, in this case, via your computer keyboard). For that reason, you shouldn’t simply parrot what you’ve heard; you should take the time to think before you speak.
“First, even the original “native American Indians” were immigrants; they didn’t magically appear here. Nonetheless, the “original” native Americans are now dead; their children are “native Americans” not because their ancestors happened to live here before white folk but because they were born here. Just like I was born here. I am no less “American” or “native” than anybody else who was born here to parents with citizenship or legal residency. That’s over 280 million “native Americans” at present.
“As to my ancestors, Amparo, we’ve got a problem… I have both “white guy” and “Indian” in my blood. What are we to do about that?”
It occurs to me that no one is saying ‘yes’ to America more than people risking their lives to join us here. Maybe you should change the name to “Just Say ‘No’ to America.”
(Bob says, “That hypothesis might be acceptable, Walter, except for the fact that the overwhelming majority of Mexican illegals have no intent to stay here and become citizens. They come to work; to earn enough money to improve their standard of living at home…. in Mexico.”)
I am a court reporter who has worked in Gwinnett County and am now working in Fulton County. All I see are the repercussions and fallout from the choices of the illegal immigrants in this state. A stolen car at Lenox Square, stopped by the police, with a car full of drugs and assault weapons. Nothing happened to them. They were put in jail until INS came for them to deport them, which that never happened. Eventually they were let out and told to leave this state, except for one county, Ware County. Who checks to see that that happens????? Also Gwinnett County provided a whole new vocabulary for my computer, all gang related.
