I ran across this hilariously sad (or is that sadly hilarious) story in the Beaufort (SC) Observer by a reporter, Elizabeth Sauls, who is trying to explain to her editor the reason why she can’t complete her story on President Obama. The problem? She starts the story, only to have Obama reverse course or break a campaign promise.

And that’s change we can pay for.

Also, he said that Obama has plans to raise taxes on US companies by $190 billion. And there’s when I quit, just gave up. If Obama raises corporate taxes, who does he think will pay them? Big companies don’t pay taxes. They just add them to the product they manufacture and pass it on down the line, When Wal-Mart receives that product, they add on a bit for profit and an extra bit to cover the higher cost and then stack it on the shelves. Then Susie Shopper comes along and buys it, paying the accumulated taxes along with the store’s profit. Or maybe Susie doesn’t buy it ’cause the extra few cents make it too expensive for her budget.

Thank God for Carrie Prejean

Good for Carrie Prejean, who understood that her answer to Hollywood scum blogger Perez Hilton might cost her the Miss USA crown. Carrie answered according to her faith and conviction. But it is how she has carried herself since the pageant, which she was expected to win, that has made her my newest hero:

“I have no regrets about answering [judge Perez Hilton] honestly,” she said in one of her first interviews following the show, where she answered that she was against gay marriage becoming legal in California. “He asked me for my opinion and I gave it to him. I have nothing against gay people and I didn’t mean to offend anyone in my answer.”
