We Must Protect Ourselves
In 2005, it was determined that Celso Campo-Duartes was in the country illegally after he was arrested for running down Dacula resident Aubrey Sosebee as the 83-year-old man was taking the mail from his mailbox. Campo-Duartes also left the scene of the accident, a fairly common act by illegal aliens. He had no insurance and a fraudulent tag on his truck.
Campo-Duartes, who was employed as a plumber, spent just over two years awaiting trial in jail, then was allowed to plead to lesser charges and was released immediately on “time served.” A condition of his release was that he “voluntarily” deport himself, but Campos-Duartes is back in jail today, having been arrested—for at least the third time since his incarceration—for driving without a license and disorderly conduct.

Cuban Immigrant Costs County $400K
It is the policy of the United States not to deport apprehended aliens back to Cuba. If not the alien, then, I say send Castro the hospital bill:
When he [an illegal alien from Cuba] suffered a stroke following a recent arrest, his medical bills hit $400,000. Now, he’s paralyzed and in a wheelchair. He needs to be in a nursing home. So what’s next for the suspected criminal that’s in the country illegally? It’s tough to say. But one thing’s for sure. Douglas County cannot afford to spend any more money on the man, whose last arrest was for cocaine trafficking. The sheriff’s office had to ask the county commission recently for more money to cover the man’s medical bill.

Most Arizona Employers Aren’t Using E-Verify
Only about a third of Arizona’s 100,000 employers are using E-Verify, despite the fact that the requirement has been in effect for more than two years and businesses that do not verify risk losing their business license:
During E-Verify’s most recent full fiscal year, which ended in September 2009, Arizona employers made more than 1.3 million new hires but ran just 730,000 E-Verify checks.

Pro-Amnesty Folks in Crisis: Judge May Not Invalidate Arizona Law
A hearing was held on Thursday on challenges to the new Arizona immigration law. U.S. District Court Judge Susan Bolton asked Justice Department lawyers why she should strike down the law:
"You can barely go a day without a location being found in Phoenix where there are numerous people being harbored," she said. "Who am I to stop the state of Arizona?"

Illegal But Enrolled Case a Wake Up Call for Taxpayers, Lawmakers
If you haven’t heard the story, a Kennesaw State University student—an illegal alien—was stopped on campus for a traffic infraction. Her immigration status was discovered and she was dutifully turned over to immigration officials for deportation.
After an aggressive campaign by school administrators and taxpayer-funded lawyers, Immigrations and Customs Enforcement has deferred her deportation for a year. Jessica Colotl is now back in class at KSU, a publicly funded institution:
It probably comes as a surprise to most readers to learn that Georgia colleges and universities allow those in this country illegally to register as students, but it is the truth. As we are learning, our campuses are "sanctuaries" of a sort, where certain laws that apply elsewhere no longer apply.

Smuggled Drugs Coming To Gwinnett; the Commission Yawns
Has anyone seen Chairman Charles Bannister? Didn’t think so.
"The vast majority of marijuana that is available in the United States has crossed the southern border at some point," said Cochise County, Arizona attorney Edward Rheinheimer. "The 100 pound load of marijuana that comes across the border ends up in a middle school in Atlanta, Georgia."
